  • Several forest inventories in mangroves were conducted in different places and on different dates. Inventories take place at 6 main locations : Iracoubo, Sinnamary, Macouria, Cayenne, Petit Cayenne and Kaw. 1. at Iracoubo, forest inventories were carried out in 2003 and cover an area of 4800 m², 2. at Sinnamary, forest inventories were conducted in 1997, 2003 and 2004 on 9440 m², 3. at Macouria, 2824 m² were inventoried in 2006, 4. in the south-west of Cayenne, 10800 m² were inventoried in 1993, 5. at Petit-Cayenne, forest inventories were conducted in 2011 on 10000 m², 6. and in the Area of Kaw, three inventories in 2002, 2004 and 2005 cover an area of 34925 m². During the forest inventories, the collected data concern DBH, overall height or 1st branch height, the inter-trees distance in a forest plot, sometimes the surface salinity and state of the tree (living/dead).

  • The site Roche Koutou is composed of four 2 to 3km-transects (20m wide). 4411 trees with dbh>=20cm have been recorded by Office national des forêts (ONF). Fauna inventories have been made by Office national de la chasse et de la faune sauvage (ONCFS) few days after. 756 under-storey plants have been inventoried on 34 plots on this site (IRD). Soils have been described using 16 samples (1.20m depth max.). No laboratory analysis available for soils.

  • Guyadiv is a network of permanent forest plots installed in French Guiana. The site of Eperon Barré is composed of two plots : one 1ha-plot and one 100x200m-plot. A complete inventory has been made in 2009 and 952 trees with dbh>=10cm have been registrated. 535 and 405 species have been identified in the two plots. 99,1% and 98,3% of the registrated trees have been identified to the species level. We only have the point coordinates and not the precise demarcation of the sample plots. In order to calculate the bounding box for these plots, we have expanded the point location 500 meters in each direction.

  • Inventories of insects in French Guiana, mainly ants, spiders, Lepidoptera in order to study the biodiversity and distribution of terrestrial arthropods in French Guiana. 11 sites all over French Guiana are represented, 13 focal groups and more than 2600 taxa are represented. The ArthroEcoFoG database gathers more than 27000 specimens in 2016.

  • The project Bridging Information on Tree Diversity in French Guiana, and a Test of Ecological Theories (BRIDGE) brings together researchers from nine different European research groups in tropical ecology, and seeks to improve our knowledge on the various dimensions of tree biological diversity in French Guiana. The project includes ten one-hectare old-growth forest tree plots across a range of geology and rainfall in French Guiana. The amount of niche conservatism across an ecologically relevant set of functional, reproductive, and defense traits have been measured in the field.

  • The site Haute Matarony is composed of four 3km-transects (20m wide). 5463 trees with dbh>=20cm have been recorded by Office National des Forêts (ONF). Fauna inventories have been made by Office national de la chasse et de la faune sauvage (ONCFS) few days after. There is no inventory of under-storey plants on this site. Soils have been described using 9 samples (1.20m depth max.). Laboratory analyses are available for one soil-profile.

  • Habitats inventories have been installed over the years in French Guiana using a standardized multi-scale protocol. In each site, we established two to four transects, about 2.5 to 3-km long in different directions to optimally sample the local environmental variability. Each 20-m width transect was divided into 100 m segments so that the basic sampling units are 0.2-ha plots. All the plots were geo-referenced using a Garmin 76CSx GPS receiver and delineated in the field using a Vertex laser clinometer. In each plot, all trees (including palm-trees) greater than 20 cm diameter at breast height (DBH) or above the buttresses were identified by local forest-plotters from ONF. They referred to a vernacular nomenclature whose names correspond either to a botanical species, genus or family. Tested against true botanical data on 4279 trees (Guitet et al., 2014), this nomenclature proved 83% effective accuracy at the family level and 74% at the level of the most precise botanical equivalent of our vernacular names (i.e. the species, genus or family level depending on the precision reached by forest-plotters). Soil samples were also collected in 490 selected plots representative of the different topographical positions along each transect. Chemical and textural analyses are available. Plants of the under-storey have been collected by IRD in several 5m x 5m sub-plots on different sites : Kourouaï, Piton Baron, Aïmara, Saut Parasol, Mont Itoupé, Waki, Toponowini, Bagote, Haute Beiman, Roche Koutou, Regina. Standardized line transects surveys were conducted by ONCFS in 25 sites on the same transects in order to record large mammals and terrestrial birds. Transects were walked at less than 1 kmh-1 speed every morning (7:00-11:00) and afternoon (14:30-18:00) by only one observer by trail, systematically alternating transects on consecutive days to avoid observer bias. All encounters of focus species and their localization on the trail were systematically recorded and the perpendicular distance between animal and transect was measured with a laser ranger finder to the nearest meter.

  • This “Inventaire Papetier” was conducted by the CTFT in 1975. The block covers 59 895 ha. 34 016 trees have been inventoried in 244 plots (120 ha) Pre-census DBH is 15 cm on all plot (originally trees with DBH 10-15cm have been measured on one plot out of 10 but not included in the digital version) DBH have been measured by classes : 15-20 cm for the first class and with a range of 10 cm since 20 cm. Plots have been located on GIS in 2008 using original maps and field note-books (indicating slopes, rivers, etc...).

  • Guyadiv is a network of permanent forest plots installed in French Guiana. The site of Plateau La Douane is composed of one 1ha-plot. A complete inventory of the trees with dbh>=10cm has been made in 2001: 522 trees have been registrated, 518 different species have been identified and 99,2% of the inventoried trees have been identifies to the species level. We only have the point coordinates and not the precise demarcation of the sample plot. In order to calculate the bounding box for the plots, we have expanded the point location 100 meters in each direction.

  • The site Yaroupi is composed of four 3km-transects (20m wide). 3965 trees with dbh>=20cm have been recorded by Office national des forêts (ONF). Fauna inventories have been made by Office national de la chasse et de la faune sauvage (ONCFS) few days after. No under-storey plots on this site. Soils have been described using 22 samples (1.20m depth max.). Laboratory analysis are available for one soil-profile.
